The staff of the Institute of Economics СS MSHE RK expresses their deep condolences on the death of Oraz Baymuratovich Baymuratov. He was an economist, doctor of economics, professor, academician and honored scientist of Kazakhstan.
He made an invaluable contribution to the development of economics in Kazakhstan and was the founder of scientific schools in areas such as investment efficiency and science and economics. He also developed programs for the transition to market economy and was one of the developers of the monetary and financial systems in the context of globalization.
From 1958 to 1983, he worked at the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, where he rose from a junior researcher to head of the department and held the position of academic secretary. In 1984-1994, he was the first deputy chairman of the Council for the Study of Productive Forces (CSPF) at the Academy of Science of Kazakhstan. Oraz Baymuratovich is the author or co-author of 37 monographs, 12 of which he wrote alone. His scientific output includes more than 622 publications. He has actively participated in doctoral dissertation committees and has been an official opponent for dozens of doctoral theses. Under his supervision, more than 50 doctoral and candidate dissertations were defended.
His death is a great loss to Russian science and to everyone who had the honor of knowing and working with him.
