ECONOMIC POLICY PRIORITIES

February 19, 2026  A roundtable titled  “New Priorities of Kazakhstan’s Economic Policy” was hosted today by the Economic Research Institute (ERI). The event convened leading experts, representatives of the academic community, and officials from key government agencies.

The primary objective of the session was to develop evidence-based recommendations for adapting the national economy to contemporary global challenges and integrating regional development into the overarching national strategy.

Dr. Yerkin Sadykov, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Director General of the Institute of Economics (under the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan), delivered a keynote presentation on the fundamental shifts in the country’s economic architecture. In his report, Dr. Sadykov identified priority sectors for strategic investment and state-led incentives.

Participants also deliberated on a differentiated approach to regional development, tailored to the specific socio-economic profiles of Kazakhstan’s various regions. Particular emphasis was placed on the nexus between constitutional reform and the economic potential of regional entities. Furthermore, the expert panel examined the implementation of a “service model” of public administration and its impact on economic efficiency.

The deliberations will result in a comprehensive package of policy recommendations to be submitted to the relevant ministries and government bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
