On January 15–16, 2026, Nazarbayev University hosted the forum “Ensuring the Quality of Higher Education: Current State and Development Prospects.”
The forum brought together the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek; rectors and vice-rectors of higher and postgraduate education institutions; heads of профильных university units; representatives of research institutes; international accreditation agencies ASIIN, QAA, and Times Higher Education; as well as international experts.
The forum program included practice-oriented master classes, thematic sessions, and a plenary meeting.
On the first day, international accreditation agencies conducted master classes focused on preparing universities for international accreditation, addressing common mistakes and practical tips. Discussions also covered the role of external stakeholders in ensuring and enhancing the quality of higher education, as well as the export of educational services and best practices in international accreditation.
On the second day, sessions addressed issues related to assessing the quality of research outcomes, training of scientific personnel, state regulation of higher and postgraduate education, and the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into educational processes.
The outcomes of the forum defined a unified development vector for the higher education and science quality assurance system for 2026 and the medium term, aimed at enhancing the international competitiveness of Kazakhstani universities and academic standards.
