A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON ECONOMICS: ROUND TABLE HELD AT THE INSTITUTE

On May 21, 2026, the Institute of Economics hosted a Round Table on “Contemporary Issues in Economic Theory.” Participants emphasized that economic science is currently undergoing a period of active transformation, responding to the defining challenges of the 21st century. Modern economic models are adapting to new global realities  globalization, technological innovation, sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, growing social inequality and tension, and the shifting role of the state in the economy and society.

Particular attention was drawn to the fact that economic theory today serves not only as an academic discipline, but as a critical foundation for decision-making at every level  from personal financial management to the design of strategic national programs and economic policy instruments. Participants underscored the importance of research aimed at theoretically interpreting contemporary processes of economic and social development, noting that such approaches enable a deeper understanding of ongoing change and inform the shaping of effective pathways forward.
