Representatives of the Institute of Economics of the Science Committee travelled to Bangkok as part of the research project “Sustainable Development of Kazakhstan’s Economy in the Face of New Challenges: Foresight, Strategies and Modernisation Scenarios.”
The delegation comprised Deputy Director, Candidate of Economic Sciences Z.K. Chulanova, Chief Research Fellow, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor A.T. Tleuberdinova, and Master of Economics A.Sh. Suleimenova.
The Kazakhstani scientists participated in the 18th WEAI International Conference 2026, hosted by Chulalongkorn University. The conference featured a keynote address by renowned economist Maurice Obstfeld (Peterson Institute for International Economics), focusing on the agenda for Asia’s emerging markets in the new economic reality. The delegation engaged in sessions covering human capital development, public administration, investment and innovation.
The researchers also presented at the SIBR 2026 Conference on Interdisciplinary Business and Economics Research, jointly organised by the Society of Interdisciplinary Business Research and Thammasat University. The papers presented addressed the assessment of intellectual potential across Kazakhstan’s regions amid digital transformation, as well as the impact of geopolitical risks on the modernisation of the country’s oil extraction industry. The presentations attracted considerable interest from participants representing Indonesia, India, China and Poland. Professor A.T. Tleuberdinova served as moderator of the “Globalization & International Relations” session.
Following a meeting with the Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Chulalongkorn University, agreements were reached on advancing international cooperation, including discussions on signing a memorandum of understanding between the Institute of Economics of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chulalongkorn University.
As a result of the visit, certificates and letters of appreciation were received, conference abstracts were published, scholarly networks with international researchers were established, and agreements were reached on the publication of foreign scholars’ articles in the journal of the Institute of Economics.
