A research and practice seminar titled “Experience of Kazakhstani Publications: Practical Cases and Recommendations” was held at Astana IT University.

The event brought together leading editors, experts in academic publishing, and representatives of Kazakhstan’s scholarly community to address pressing issues in the development of scientific journals and their promotion to international databases.

Among the speakers was Anel Akhmetovna Kireeva — Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the journal Economics: Strategy and Practice and Head of Department at the Institute of Economics under the Committee of Science of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan. She presented a paper titled “CSAB (Scopus): Hidden Selection Criteria for Journals — From Formal Requirements to a Trust Model,” offering a hands-on case study of a journal that successfully passed Scopus selection, with a focus on the factors that secured its inclusion.

The seminar concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants discussed specific cases and received expert recommendations on preparing journals for international indexing.
