On April 29, 2026, Deputy Director of the Institute of Economics Chulanova Z.K. and researcher Kabylkairat R. participated in a round table organized by the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (HSEB KazNU). The event focused on the topic: “Income Inequality and Poverty in Kazakhstan’s Regions: Measurement, Structural Determinants and Social Policy.”
The discussion brought together Kazakhstani scholars, representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and World Bank experts. The presentation by Metin Nebiler Senior Economist on Poverty and Inequality for the Europe and Central Asia region at the World Bank and one of the leading international specialists regularly analyzing the socio-economic situation in Kazakhstan drew particular interest.
Chulanova Z.K. delivered a report titled “Wages in Kazakhstan: Differentiation of Above-Tariff Payments and Optimization Prospects,” examining wage differentiation and prospects for optimizing the wage system in Kazakhstan. The report outlined methodological approaches to wage formation, its economic nature within the system of distributive relations, and an analysis of the structure of Kazakhstan’s wage system in terms of the ratio between tariff and above-tariff payments.
